This week is against the Falcons, then there is a bye, so I would be he will have a few packages with him involved the week after the bye (Houston) and then just keep adding plays.
The Niners have a bit of a logjam at WR - Isaac Bruce will always be there and Josh Morgan has big potential. Brandon Jones is going to get back from injury in the next game or two and he was the off-season prize free agent signing. Jason Hill is a player who the Niners seem to love, Arnaz Battle is still hanging around.
So I think it will be a while before Crabtree actually plays enough to contribute. He will get into games as he learns the packages.
By this point I think most feel it will be next season before he contributes, but if he learns and impresses (and a lot of his incentives depend upon how fast he contributes) he may start to be a factor in the final quarter.
Edit: Singletary says Crabtree will not suit up this weekend, and the 49ers are requesting a 2 week roster exemption for Crabtree. That way they can keep their current lineup for the next game and don't need to cut anyone until after the bye.

The 49ers released Dobson Collins from the practice roster a couple of days ago. It doesn't open up anything on the active roster, but it does give them room to work at the position at least.
