I think you last few posters are missing the point, in that she actually came across as an entertainer... instead of just some tired old piece of fake, lip-syncing plastic like almost everything else in the pop world is these days.
The gist of this thread is about how the OP thought Lady Gaga was just another piece of plastic, and then realized that she actually was able to sit down and just perform and entertain. Also, she ad-libbed probably 90% of her performance in front of the piano... while the words were just simply quirky and fun, and probably won't alter the entire course of history... the fact that she is even able to do that puts her on another level from pretty much 95% of the crap you hear on the "pop" stations today.
I'd even be willing to wager that it's even more than those "acts" you might be watching on those Chinese variety shows.
Anyway... earth-shattering, no... but it's not like any of these people, regardless of how many instruments they play, are performing brain surgery or putting out fires or jumping in front of bullets... so, you know, reception is relevant I guess.
Edit: Also... as for the bit about critiquing her piano playing in that clip... Seriously? She's opening for a network TV comedy show. Did you really expect Beethoven's 5th?
