I owned both a TomTom One 3rd Edition and a Garmin 275T that I used in Italy.
I can honestly say that the TT was by far the easier one to use. Menus and setting are far more intuitive on the TT.
One annoying thing on the Garmin I encountered was that if I was in Scarborough, Toronto and just entered "Toronto" as the City it wouldn't be able to find the address. You had to enter Scarborough as the city. Which is not always known when you're in a strange city. I can't verify the TT handles this better - can someone with a TomTom validate this?
Two things that are driving me crazy with my Garmin (anyone know the answers to these?)
1) The map shows the estimated time of arrival (ie 3:52 pm) vs # of hrs/mins remaining to destination (ie 1 hr 15 min)
2) My TT had the ability to set how much you exceeded the speed limit before it squaked to give you a warning. (ie limit + 10km). Garmin doesn't appear to have this.
