The gall bladder is redundant to the bile duct, so if the latter is in good working order, one probably wouldn't even notice a difference once you've healed.
While I was waiting for surgery though, I really paid the price if I misjudged how fatty certain foods were. Put me back in hospital three times - two of which they were prepping to move me up for surgery when the inflammation went down, and I got released. (in retrospect, that was good news, because if they had to remove it at those times, I was going to get cut wide open) In related news, there is a doorbell on the door to the emergency ward of Drayton Valley's hospital. I've always found that to be comical
