I also found out that Droopy was created by Tex Avery, who is the same guy who was (as all right-thinking folk are aware) heavily involved in the creation of Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny. Apparently he left Warner due to creative differences in the early 40's and went to MGM, where he then developed Drew and many other characters. Which, I imagine, is why there are stylistic similarities in the two cartoon franchises...
