Man, some serious Halo haters out there! First off, COD4 is IMO the best console multiplayer there is, as long as you are on Xbox Live. Secondly, the single player of the first Halo is what hooked everyone, as there was not a single game that was available, with all the action, terrain, crazy enemies, graphics and flying ships that Halo has. Third, the local multiplayer for Halo is excellent. No other console game had four guys playing at my house more often than that (besides hockey, maybe GoldenEye before that).

Dreamcast Soulcaliber also drew a crowd, but was not four player. We would often hook up several Xboxes and play 8 or 12 players. It was very good. If you are dissing the game now, then you may not have played when it first came out.
The world has now moved on, and the theme of space fighting may have been replaced with modern soldiers, but I still like Halo. My friends are just too busy now to come over for Firefight, or we are too busy to get on Xbox Live to sign in at the same time. Heck, we have a hard enough time playing vid hockey against each other.
