It can be pretty subjective I think. I spend a lot of time studying for exams I take every 6 months, so I have the TV on some sporting event virtually all the time, but I'm sitting at the table studying, glancing at the TV when my brain needs a break.

Would that be considered "watching" TV?

But 8 hours for an average is still really high. If you work 8 hours, commute 1 hour, sleep for 6, watch tv for 8, it's not quite adding up... something is getting sacrificed for the least important activity on that list.
