I'll make it short and sweet - Allied Works designed a building that apparently made best use of the physical manifestation / representation of 'music', their concept was visionary in this sense, etc. etc. I thought the others were just as strong, if not stronger in this regard.
I wasn't too impressed with Allied's use of the King Eddy; DS+F's use was far more impressive. It also seems that some alterations were made to Allied's design regarding the +15 and the rooftop portion of the King Eddy, but I could be wrong.
IMO, this was the most conservative conept out of all the shortlisted designs. Initially I had an issue with the way light would be allowed into the building; the concept reminded me of all the education / government buildings next to the river just north of City Hall.
After seeing some of the renderings, I'm warming up to the idea; but still, I preferred other submissions out there.
No discredit to Allied Works, though; they've done some beautiful stuff otherwise. If anyone has a chance, take a look at their website and check out their building portfolio.
