On the topic of WWII intelligence, two weeks ago the British government made an official apology for its mistreatment of Enigma-codebreaker and computer science pioneer Alan Turing.

In the 1950s, Turing was found guilty of the "crime" of being a homosexual, had his security clearance revoked, and was sentenced to chemical castration. He killed himself two years later.
