Just my input from my experience with my SD 900 (great camera, which my wife accidentally threw in one of those blue recycling bins
)
Canon used to have a repair center in Calgary, but it was shut down and everything goes through Ontario. You will pay one fee, but they say they will fix the problem and cover all of the shipping cost.
You have 3 months to send the camera back under the same repair (if the problem comes back), although I've sent mine back a few months longer than that.
They were pretty decent throughout the whole process. Let me know if you want more details.
