Hitler was even more clearly influenced by the writings of Martin Luther, especially Luther's book "On the Jews and their Lies". A quote from that book:
Set fire to their synagogues and schools. Jewish houses should be razed and destroyed, and Jewish prayer books and Talmudic writings, in which such idolatry, lies, curing, and blasphemy are taught, [should] be taken from them. Their rabbis [should] be forbidden to teach on pain of loss of life and limb.
You could argue more convincingly that Protestant Christianity led to the Holocaust.
I will not make that argument, however. It is simplistic to say that a twisting of Darwinism or a basic understanding of Lutherism led to his hatred and attempted destruction of the Jews. I'm sure that he used both Darwin and Luther to lend gravitas to his Final Solution.
I'm not trying to bash religion here, just pointing out the absurdity of blaming Darwin for the Holocaust.
