Yeah as other have said car seats have an expiry date on them. You should be able to find it on the sticker somewhere on the seat.
My parents in law were in the US a couple months ago and they bought 2 Eddie Bauer car seats for my son and my nephew. When they got to the border they informed the customs offcer they purchased them and they weren't allowed to bring them into Canada. Apparently that model they purchased doesn't meet the Canadian standards. I guess Canada has some very strict standards on child car seats.
Not saying your seats don't meet the standards, it's just they purchased Eddie Bauer ones as well which was surprising they couldn't bring them to Canada.
