So for those that have played tonight you can tell that playing from 09 to 10 is going to be very different and player skills will truly matter in how effective of a player your going to be. As a club tonight we were extremely disjointed and broken in out plays. Missed passes everywhere, can't get out of our own zone, can't get into attack zone, can't sustain puck control in the attack zone. Most of the night we were chasing for the puck whether it was loose or on the opponents stick.
These next couple of weeks are going to be an training camp period for us basically need to get use to the gameplay of this game; which will require us to improve our teamwork play in getting out of the zone, passing, and positioning. We will have to get our dump and chase game into our inventory as well because IT WILL be needed this year since it's not so easy to skate into the zone anymore when defense is already back. We will have to get our board play working well so we can help each other out in the defensive zone or getting the puck back.
It's all about getting our patience and movement game working. Patience when rushing the puck up rather then rushing out defense or neutral zone when defense has it covered. Patience in playing it safe rather then going for the check. Movement to dump the puck into the zone and be able to get a strong enough forecheck to retrieve it. As well move the puck around effectively in the attack zone to give us openings and get good scoring chances whether it's point shots, one timers, or just plain old shooting at the net when the lane is open.
So these first week may see us being very disconnected in our play, but each game gives us experience which will only improve us and in due time we'll be back to having winning become the norm.
