They had a terrible season last year but there is no reason to not still include Michigan in that group. They are going to be at the top of the conference/college football again very soon.
They have too much money/cache and a good coach not to do well.

No way has it narrowed significantly. There isn't team in the Big East or ACC that would come close to regularly competing for the top 3 in the Big Ten.
There is still a big drop off between the Big Ten and the Big East/ACC.
However, that likely has to do with how bad those conferences are rather than great things the Big Ten is doing.
