One thing I just want to make mention of is that many of the first responders on the scene (FDNY, NYPD, Port Authority, EMS) climbed up 80 stories of stairs to get to the impact location to help people before the towers collapsed.
Firemen ran 80 stories with full kit and Scott packs up into the tower to help people. Imagine climbing all those stairs and have to actually start your job when you reach the 80th floor after you're completely exhausted, then only to have the building collapse under you. I can't even fathom that.
