I recently watched a marijuana 'report' from ABC, NBC or one of other major american networks, that stated that marijuana was
the most profitable illegal drug. Getting space is difficult and start up costs are high, but the first crop alone will pay for the all the start-up equipment. Full harvests can then be done every 2 months with insignificant operational costs. People will buy a $1M home for the sole purpose of growing weed in it, and make off like bandits in the process. Also, waaaaay more people smoke weed than do coke/crack/heroin in Canada.
Legallizing weed would directly take truckloads of money away from the criminal element and give it to the gov't and private business, while also saving money in law enforcement and rehabilitation. The main reason it's still 'technically' illegal in canada is US relations.
