I think you might mean Dunkirk. Hitler's delay there allowed the bulk of the (then) Allied army to escape to England. Had they been captured instead, it would have been a huge blow to the Allies.
As it was, the English abandoned much of their heavy equipment in the retreat. Had Hitler followed through with Operation Sealion right away the English still may not have had time to regroup.
Also...in the Battle of Britian Hitler ordered the Luftwaffe to switch to attacking civilian targets from military...right when they had the RAF pretty much at the breaking point - they were losing both pilots and planes at an unsustainable rate. By switching to civilian targets Hitler allowed the RAF to recover and also crystallized British resolve.
