Wrong. Henry Burris was cut after a disastrous performance for the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football back in 2001 or 2002. I remember it well. He couldn't get any NFL team to sign him so he turned up back in Canada.
Dave Dickenson was desperate to get on with another NFL team after he was cut by the Chargers, the last NFL team he was employed by. He was only one game short of qualifying for the minimum NFL pension, which only pays 50k a year for the rest of his life but that's a hell of a lot more than he'd make in the CFL playing five or six more years as the top paid player making 300-500k Canadian per year.
