And "Plan Canada" changed their name from "Canada Foster Parents Plan" because now less than half the money collected goes to the child and their family. That's the way it used to work, but now the projects are more community based (build health clinics, digging wells, training the adults irrigation methods, etc)). It went from mostly handing money over so that one family could afford to eat to building communities. They still put a childs face on the community, and the child is certainly benefiting from the money, but most of it doesn't go directly to them. Some does for clothes, food and school supplies. But like I said, most goes to improving the community as a whole.
