But I have sometimes have audio problems with HD channels. Mostly the sound cutting out for half a second. It varies from channel to channel and sometimes quite a bit, and other times not at all. I don't think it's a problem with my setup because our TV on a different floor has the same problem.

Nothing wrong with your set up. It's Shaw's problem, but they will not acknowledge it or fix it. See
