Of course we can't know for sure but considering everything that has come out since the first story it does seem somewhat dubious that the boat company was simply a bikini model job.

I don't think that it is crazy or unfair that she was fired in the first place either. If not for working at the Bikini/escort job but for being stupid enough to think that it wouldn't be an issue with her being a teacher. I wouldn't want someone with that poor judgement/decision making working for me or teaching kids if I was the boss.
