First off, I'm a HUGE QT fan and have been since Reservoir Dogs. I own all of his work and will eventually purchase IB when it's available.
I was kind of disappointing in this film, here are some of my grievances with this movie.
For a movie starring Bard Pitt, it certainly doesn't showcase him what's so ever. Plus that guy from The Office, had what two lines in the whole movie?
The hype about that crazy former Nazi, now Nazi killer was a let down.
He didn't do jack squat. I kept waiting for a tonne of action from him.
For all the hype towards the scalping and legacy about the Inglorious Basterds by the Nazi's, they sure didn't do a lot of it. One could even say that IB wasn't really about the IB at all, just a mere side plot. The real movie was all about the French girl who got away and killed Hitler.
I really hope that QT releases an extended Directors cut with an additional 30 minutes of the IB's going to town on the German infantry. Two scenes in the same forest? Really? Come on QT.
I did find Landa's character really wearing on me later in the film, way too much screen time.
I will say that the opening scene was pure writing and acting brilliance.
