Run defence was miles better against a decent running team, too.

I also, as many do, wonder about Cortez though. He involved the run into the offence much more, which was good, but then kept having Burris throw into coverage, which was bad. The Argos have played the same defence all year, so it almost seems like arrogance where he's thinking "I don't care what THEY do, I'm going to force them to react to what I do" - which is great if it works, but 40 minutes into the game is a little late for figuring out that it isn't.

With great slots like Copeland and Lewis, why WOULDN'T you be going underneath the whole game? It worked against the Eskimos, it worked when they finally did it against the Argos, and it'll work against any team if executed well with the players they have. It's almost like Cortez thinks it's too simple and not worthy of his intellect or something. This is an offence where you could run the ball 40% of the time, throw 5-8 yards underneath/screen/cross 40% of the time, and then use the other 20% of plays to try out Cortez's complex schemes. It might not be exciting (although watching Lewis break one for 50 yards certainly was) but it would be effective, and more importantly, consistently effective unlike their current feast or famine offence.
I agree. It's like Cortez isn't satisfied with the simple play to make the 1st down. His extravagant downfield plays are too hit or miss to keep forcing deep throws. Henry's not the most cerebral QB so overcomplicating things further just doesn't make sense. I have to give him credit for one thing though it took him 1/4 of the season but it looks like he may have figured out that teams aren't going to go for the fake on play action if you never run the ball.
