Sorry they ruined your experience. I play goal, so i don't really notice this kind of stuff, and my team rarely gets called for theses kinda of things. I play enough "serious" hockey in the winter, so the ball hockey in the spring/summer is just for fun and to check out some cute girls while playing a sport I enjoy

I do totally agree though that CSSC has its place. I'm not a totally serious player and really I'm not that good, so its not a knock on the league or anything. I know its fun and that is what draws me in. I just don't think that a whole season of that would be fun for me personally. I want to play something where its still fun, but maybe where the rules are a little looser thats all.
