Caps do get two guys who can play for their CPHL team this year out of the move. Boynton is a tough guy to judge. in 07/08 the Coyotes waived him and Florida at one point in time I think had him as a healthy scratch. But overall his numbers from last year didn't look too bad and he did get an NHL job. Than again Buffalo did give Montador more money and more years so he's more than just a throw in with Hedberg.
At the end of the day you fill a need and downgrade a bit on defence for a guy who's not on a terrible contract for the next two years.
