I used to creatine twice and it pretty much doubled my bicep muscle mass (wasnt much to begin with). It basically fills your muscles with water... fake muscle. Then if you discontinue use and weight lifting, it will turn to fat basically. Not worth it.
Also is well known to cause liver and kidney problems. Definitely not worth it.
Whey Protein is absolutely the way to go. A shake after the work out and your laughing.
