There is a tool that I could use if I really wanted to spend a lot of money. Its called the Fine Tines Stall Fork and its made by Woody Pet Products out in Surrey BC.

The tines are 5/16" and 3/8" apart which would be perfect. Unfortunately they don't have a distributor in Alberta, the forks are expensive at $39 each and shipping is about another $13
