Another thing that I have always said in the gun threads on here, it would probably be a good idea that if someone is getting a CCW permit, they should have to go through a course.
We have to taking a drivers test to obtain a drivers license in order to be able to drive, and people who want to carry concealed weapons should have to go through a strict program that teaches them safety and evaluates whether or not they will go crazy in the future or not.
The testing in place now to get a PAL license here in Canada is okay, but its really easy to pass if you're not a moron to begin with. Anyone with half a brain of gun knowledge could pass it.
I assume they do the whole background check, but I wonder how much of the 8 weeks it took to get my license was wasted because the government loves taking their time to process stuff like that, and actually doing a background check and reviewing employment history, school history, etc, etc.
