In regards to the OP....the guy was within the limit of the law, so lawfully he did nothing wrong.
But come on, to bring a 'gun'....let along an assault rifle to a Presidential Rally is kind of stupid. Scrap that....it is very stupid. I get protesting, I get proving a point....and no I wouldn't ban assault rifles considering it will do NOTHING to curb gun crime, but I do not get what this guy did.
As for the use of an assault rifle. Home defense is the one most often mentioned, but most people I know that own them just like to go to the range and fire them. Is there anything wrong with that? Most of the people who own handguns in Canada just like to go to the range and fire them too....because IIRC, there were only 100 or so licenses given out in Canada that allowed people to carry handguns for self protection.
I'm glad some of you have absolutely no say so in determining gun laws in the United States.
