Howie Meeker talked about it in his biography. Asked if he ever felt like turning down an autograph, he replied that yeah, he felt like that on lots of occasions. But he remembered back to when he was a kid and Busher Jackson was more than happy to provide him with one when he was a little busy.

The quality of person doesn't change based on how good an athlete you are. You are both fooling yourself and destined for disappointement if you look at every pro athlete and go "well Jerome would have done it differently".
Just curious, why does that expectation start once you become a pro? Why not for anyone else?
