I did some research when buying a TV last year, and came up with this:

Magnets can effect a LCD tv, but not nearly as badly as they did the CRT's. Most TV's and speakers are shielded now anyway. The really good news is that LCD's have an auto-degauss feature built into them that will reverse any damage caused by a magnet.

So, the simple answer is...try it and pay attention to the screen. If you see some discoloration, turn off the TV for afew minutes and it will go away.
