With all the comments about how this is a waste of money- it has me thinking.
What happens when there is a suicide? Do they close of part of the bridge to investigate? If so, what happens to all those tolls that would have been collected during that time? Looks like the toll is around $6- if 10,000 cars miss the toll due to a suicide, and there are 21 suicides per year (1500 since the bridge opened) that means they lose $1.26M per year in tolls. Adjust those numbers up and it goes up more. Then factor in the coast guard costs.
