GAME 6: BOMBERS at STAMPS
Terrible lost for the Stamps last game against the Riders. They lost due to inconsistent offense especially late in the game, missed field goal that was returned for a good chunk of yardage then ended up with the Riders TD after a blown man-to-man coverage by the Stamps defender. Riders could have been a easy picking due to their inconsistent QBs.
I don't think it is fair to blame the lost on Sandro's first missed field goal because the Stamps offense had a couple of more chances in scoring at least a field goal to win. Unfortunately Burris and company are out of sync on their last 4 plays of the game.
Running game was effective again last game but the rest of the offense were not that good. On defense, this is probably the worst they ever played in the last 3 games. They can't stop the running game and they can't stop the passing game.
Quarterback: Henry Burris had a off game last vs the Riders. Most noticeably was the last few plays at the end of the game. He either underthrown or overthrown a receiver. I find that he was forcing to get a first down every play at the end. I am sure Nik Lewis were open at one time for a short gain but you never know his YAC gain. Burris threw to Jackson, and Ralph.
--- Offense has to start hot this game. It is so tiring to see them start slow the last few games.
STARTER: Burris BACKUP: Nealy and Tate.
Running Back: Joffrey Reynolds was the one of the few positives for the Calgary offense. He was unstoppable. Jon Cornish were not too shabby either.
--- we saw what happenned when the offense mixed up their plays and when Reynolds is very effective. There's one instance where Burris faked the handout to Reynolds. That fooled the Riders defense and JOn Cornish were wide open for a TD.
STARTER: Reynolds, Johnson BACKUP: Cornish and Cote
Offensive Linemen: The OLine gave Reynolds lot of room again last game. They also gave Burris lots of time but Burris couldn't capitalize on his chances. OLine is playing well and hopefully it will stay playing well.
STARTER: Pilon, Newman, Lazeo, Tsoumpas and Archibald.
BACKUP: O'Neill, Gott, Ellis
Receiver: Not sure I agree that we missed Rambo last game. Thelwell did a heck of a job filling in for him. Unfortunately when Thelwell goes down in the 3rd quarter, the offense sort of dissappeared as well. Thelwell is questionable against the Bombers. If he can't play, Calgarian Blaine Kruger will fill in.
---- One thing I don't understand is not enough play thrown to Lewis. Also, why is Teyo Johnson not playing much. I really think he can help the offense. Big target and et al. Stamps should try to use their short yardage passes and let Lewis and others do their thing.
STARTER: Lewis, Copeland, Ralph, Jackson
BACKUP: Thelwell, Johnson.
Defensive Linemen: Where was Malik Jackson? Was he injured or just a healthy scratch. I don't understand why they would benched the game when he was awesome along with Odell Willis in pressuring Pierce and Jackson on BC game. Juwan Simpson played instead of Jackosn. Not saying Simpson is not good because the guy had a QB sack but with Willis and Jackson speed on the opposite sides, that give Labinjo and Johnson some room to go after the QB.
STARTER: Labinjo, Simpson, Willis, Johnson
BACKUP: Alain Kashama(injured), Robede, Phillips(injured), Fernand Kashama, Chevrier
Linebacking: Linebacking is actually not visible this season so far. They quietly do their thing.
STARTER: James, Carpenter and Blackmon
BACKUP: Black, Calixte, Grootegood, Raymond
Defensive Back: Amadi got birned on the last Riders TD. DBacks were actually played well except that last TD>
STARTER: Browner, Amadi, Tate, Anderson, Collins
BACKUP: Lysack, Raymond
Special Team: Okay, I guess the Stamps special team coverage cannot be perfect all season. Sandro finally missed a field goal and Dressler almost went all the way. The only reason he didn't score was because of Sandro.
GO STAMPS GO!!
