Has a player successfully done that in the NFL?

In regards to a player that's been drafted by a team, don't think any player had done it. Probably because it's the stupidest thing to do, the closest example we'd have is Maurice Clarrett's year off.
The 49ers will own his rights until draft day 2010, meaning he can't talk to any other team, workout for any other team, attend the combine or anything really without consent from the 49ers.
This kid is getting a little greedy, but I have to wonder if it's the agent and not the player.
