Personally I think New York was a battleground between the dinosaurs, aliens, and the uber-Elvis. The government had to scramble to come up with a convincing cover story to prevent an even greater panic. Obviously the reason the Pentagon also got damaged was because that was where the uber-Elvis has been cryogenically preserved since his ascension to godhood and madness in 1976, and only the desperate peril of the dino-alien war becoming overt convinced Bush to authorize unleashing this terrible weapon.

Anyone who believes differently is obviously a dupe of Big Media, Big Government, Big Business, Big Pharma and/or Big Steve.

It was time travelers who were there to cover up the dinosaurs war with alies and Elvis (BTW, you're close on that one, it isn't the uber-Elvis, it's just the original one, he's still alive, and really hates dinosaurs).
