I don't think so at all (and I'm really not a JP fan at all). It's not like JP was asking for a MLB ready prospect like David Price. These by all accounts are prospects that may/maynot pan out. If a team like the Phillies wouldn't part with their best prospect for the best pitcher in the game in a non-rental situation (how often does that happen?), then JP was absolutely correct to back off. The Phillies did do a solid deal in getting Lee for cheap, but at the end of the day you have to give to get and getting the best pitcher, having him already signed for a year and not being prepared to give up your best prospect is just dumb. Perhaps it's spite with the GM not wanting to deal with JP (I'd think a lot of GM's don't wanna deal with the bum), but getting a franchise player for crap isn't doable. Anyone can get rid of the guy, clearly ANYONE can do that, but you have to get value for perhaps the best Jay ever.
