I was thinking about this a game or two ago, matching player's running patterns after wild animals.
Rios has the nickname gazelle (blissfully oblivious gazelle, to be specific) and runs like one - first strides are powerful and he gets to top speed quickly. Very useful in baseball.
Wells runs more like a bull, small choppy steps that take longer to get to full speed - terrific for long straight distances, not so useful in baseball.
Wells is faster, but Rios is more effective.
