Additionally in the normal cold months the traffic probably dwarfs on the pedestrian bridges while staying constant on the overpasses.
Seriously there is no real "need" for the bridge. There is no "bridge congestion" or.... I don't even know what to call it.
I'm not totally against the bridge. I'm too interested in myself/real problems to really care all that much... But there are enough pedestrian bridges I run/bike them often and never wish there were more.
