Well the thinking is the best Dman in the game is rated a 74. So if Jaybo has a GREAT year for the Flames I could see him maybe becoming a 73, 74 max. If he is 73 then I can just sign him for 1 year every year at 7.5 for the next 2 years after this. If he stays at 71-72 then I can sign him at 6.5 or 7 each year on 1 year deals. If I signed him to a 3 year deal now I have to pay him 7.5, seems like low risk to just go on the 1 year basis. If he doesnt go up to 73 then I still pay him less then 7.5 each year, saving me cap.
The only way I really lose this is if he becomes a 74-76, and if he gets to those levels well I'll be happy regardless cuz it will mean he is dominating for the Flames!
