But a cab ride home would have been like $20. Do you realize how many more beers that is?
I don't get drunk driving or what the people are thinking that do it. What are you saving yourself to possibly kill yourself and more importantly others around you.
I have always been in the mind set where if I knew I could drive home drunk and know I'm only going to have the possibility to kill myself I would probably risk it some nights. But the fact you are putting other people in danger is just stupid.
I don't necessarily believe it should be a one and done system since we all make mistakes and get second chances. However I would like stricter penalties for such thing leading to no license the rest of your life. I know too many people that drive drunk because it will "just be a 24hr".
1st time: 30 day suspension
2nd time: 1 year suspension
3rd time: 1 year in jail and life time suspension
If the driver is caught driving without a license then typical punishment would happen but if they were driving drunk without a license than it's an automatic 1 year in jail and life time suspension unless you are already on your 3rd strike which you would get 5-10 years in jail.
You do NOT have the right to put my life, my little brothers lives, my family and friends lives in danger just because you can't afford a $20 cab ride, or whatever excuses you want to make up to help yourself make it home on that drive.
