I'm not usually one to advocate for a conservative "Let's get tough on crime" approach to justice but I have a hard time arguing against this. I suspect impaired driving trials would increase in number dramatically and a lot of charter challenges would ensue.
Perhaps on your first conviction, provided its a simple impaired conviction with no injuries and no accident you get a long suspension. Any subsequent convictions or any injuries/accident/death related to your first conviction and it's bye bye driving privileges.
