Look, I am not in favour of either parties. But just because the picture of him shows him coming out of the house, doesn't mean he didn't follow the police to his car and then they went back into the house after that event.
I don't have enough information to say who is right and who is wrong, if I were to decide on the limited info presented I would probably say that the police didn't need to do what they did.
