Destroyed the WPT? He has one win and is ranked something like 13th. That is destroying the WPT? But to be fair that one win is in 76 tournaments so it isn't like he has had a ton of chances to crush the opposition.

Since when is 7 a super impressive number? There are somewhere around 5-10 guys who have more.

He is still close to a lot of guys currently playing. Tiger Woods is miles ahead of other guys on his list.

Phil Ivey may be the best player in the world right now but there is no way that he comes close to dominating the game the way that Tiger does.
Ivey plays in a private poker room in the Bellagio. This is the highest level of poker. No main event winner since Moneymake would step foot in the door. The best players in the world play for millions of dollars in these private games. Ivey is the best player according anyone who plays in this game.

He is also one of the best online players in the world and most estimates have him making 10 million dollars online in the last 3 years. He plays very sporadically online and is really the only successful online player that didn't hone his skills online. Other high stakes live players who try to play online get crushed or are even money players because the game is so different. Not Ivey.

WSOP bracelets mean less to high stakes poker players since tournament results will be inconsistent due to a large luck factor. Ivey plays for such big money in these private games that he doesn't play a lot of WSOP tournaments unlike someone like Hellmuth who destroys lower stakes competition but gets crushed every time he steps into a cash game. The fact that Ivey has 7 and is only like 30 is amazing.

Definitely not the Tiger Woods of poker as that comes off a ridiculous as no one would say that if he was white.
