I will be devils advocate and disagree. Although I can't say I have had much experience viewing Cronkite, the guy was just an excellent interviewer and broadcaster, who filled a particular position. He was really good at his job.
Michael Jackson on the other hand was uniquely talented, and globally popular. There is no figure quite like Michael Jackson.
