Hey, it's a job.

My personal interest in working there is the other side of Apple. Since I'm going to school to get a degree in programming, why not work part time at the Apple Store and take advantage of internal resources to supliment my education? Things like internal courses and training etc. Who knows... Maybe in 3 years, I'll be able to apply to an internal posting for entry-level programmers in Cupertino.

The point, though, is that I want a relatively brainless job while I'm going to school, but why waste 3 years working somewhere with no benefit to my future? Apple Retail might sound pretentious to some, but sounds pretty smart to me.
Just a recommendation, you'll probably want to have a University (i.e. UofC) degree rather then a DeVry degree if your hope is to land a high-tech job in the valley. Supply for workers is going to be super high (hellooooo India) and the costs/work to get you on a visa would be a pain, unless you have duel citizenship or you already have a green card. Especially a place like Apple, which is pretty popular.

I'm not sure working in an Apple store gets your foot in the door as much as you think it would. Its like being a usher for the Saddledome and thinking you might be able to get a try-out contract from Darryl.
