Sharp's are not the best. They have been declining in picture quality for a while now. While still decent TVs, they just don't compare to Samsung or Sony, who generally have the best picture quality. Sharps dejudder doesn't look as nice as the Bravia MotionFlow Engine, nor whatever Samsung uses.
I grabbed a 40-inch Sony Z series last month for $1300. Last years models that have 1080p and 120hz are great deals if you can still find them. You can even grab the 46 inch for about $1600.
