Putting aside the circus that was his life, I wonder about MJ's "musical" legacy. He was not really a musician (though I understand he used a piano to compose songs with others). As far as I know he did not play any musical instruments on stage. Great singer, great dancer.

I think he was a video star - not a musical genius. I would say he only made two great albums as a solo artist - Off The Wall and Thriller. Not exactly a big catalogue. Also, much of his music was composed with collaborators. All his records after Thriller were relative flops.
