In a sale between 2 people 'fairness' is whatever those two parties decide it is. If an offer of 50% of the asking price is accepted by the seller it's obviously fair, if it wasn't the seller should have rejected it.

I don't get why you take this personally, besides some sort of mass amount of built up anger. Whether or not you're a professional seller this is a business transaction. If you don't want to be involved in business transactions have someone else take care of it for you. People trying to get deals, fairly or not, are a reality of business, either grow up and deal with it or stop selling things.
