Its really nothing to be insulted about... some people are simply really bad negotiators and come off poorly, but its really just part of doing business. Coming in at half is really a stink-bid to gauge someone's desperation. They may still be willing to pay close to full price, they just want to see how desperate you are as the seller.
Sometimes its all the wording of the ad. People see OBO, or negotiable, and they lick their lips and prepare to negotiate as callously as a water salesman in the desert. These same people see the words "non-negotiable" or "firm", and they don't even bother. Might mean it takes longer to get your sale... or not at all though.
