Many small businesses will give you discounts based on cash. It avoids VISA processing fees, etc. and it also leaves no record so it could be pocketed and not put on tax. People erroneously apply this to big businesses as well.

A lot of small computer companies, ethnic restaurants, etc. will all give cash discounts. The idea of cash also for buying from private sales is that the guy gets instant money and not something more dubious like a cheque that might not cash, etc. Cash upfront definetely has..."cache".
